The production of nitrogen gas from atmospheric air is based on Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) principle by adsorption of oxygen gas using a special grade of imported Carbon Molecular Sieves (CMS).
Atmospheric air is compressed by an Air Compressor and cooled to ambient temperature passing through Refrigerated Type Air Dryer or heat exchanger. Further this compressed air is passed through a series of multi stage filters for removal of dust / moisture / oil particles. This treated compressed enters to Air receiver tank where condensate is removed from its bottom with help of electronic timer based automatic moisture drain valve. This receiver takes care of pressure pulsations arises due fluctuating air demand of PSA system.
Now, compressed air is free from moisture, dust particles, oil aerosols enters to twin tower PSA module packed with special grade of carbon molecular sieves and Activated Alumina, which has a 1+1 minute time cycle. One tower is switched on to adsorption while the other is simultaneously regenerated by depressurization to atmospheric and impurities are vented to atmosphere. Impurities are nothing but oxygen rich air and hence not harmful to anyone.
The entire operation, which is totally automatic, is controlled by a sequence programmer and quick change over valves. Product nitrogen gas of designed purity flows to a surge vessel to balance the fluctuations in pressure and concentration.
Now the Nitrogen gas of 99.99% purity at a pressure 5kg/cm2g can be stored in a storage tank of desired geometric volumes. After that Nitrogen Booster will boost the Nitrogen Gas Pressure to 15Kg/cm2g and store in high pressure Nitrogen Receiver Tank.
This system is fully automatic and need not any special operator for operation. Once it is started it generates Nitrogen at constant flow rate and at constant pressure.
